Psychology Graduate – SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you a Psychology graduate eager to make a real impact while gaining hands-on experience in education and mental health?

A forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Brentford, West London, is looking for a bright, empathetic Psychology graduate to join their SEN support team as a Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic stepping stone if you're considering a career in Educational or Clinical Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or SEN Teaching.

You’ll be working closely with students who have EHCPs and a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and communication barriers. Your role will involve providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support—helping students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Providing targeted, compassionate support to students with special educational needs
  • Supporting pupils with Autism and communication difficulties to build confidence and independence
  • Managing challenging behaviour using evidence-based strategies
  • Collaborating with SENCOs, therapists, and teaching staff to deliver a whole-child approach
  • Gaining hands-on experience with EHCPs, adaptive teaching, and early intervention strategies

What’s In It for You?

  • Earn up to £650 per week while building invaluable experience in education and child development
  • Work in a supportive, diverse, and inclusive environment committed to student wellbeing
  • Gain direct exposure to therapeutic techniques used in school-based mental health support
  • Strengthen your application for postgraduate psychology, teaching, or therapy training
  • Join a school that’s truly making a difference—with a strong SEN team and an inclusive ethos

If you're serious about a career in mental health, child development, or special education, this role will give you the grounding you need.
