Role Overview:

An exciting opportunity for a skilled Lead Repair Development Engineer to drive the design, development, and optimisation of both conventional and non-conventional machining processes-including milling, grinding, fast hole EDM, and sinker EDM. This role plays a pivotal part in process industrialisation across the global repair network, supporting both quality enhancement and productivity goals within a fast-paced engineering services environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead identification, development, and industrialisation of machining processes for industrial gas turbine components
  • Deliver process improvements that meet new product introductions (NPI) and productivity targets across commercial and transactional service markets
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors on process qualification and implementation
  • Provide expert technical guidance to engineers and specialists across global repair centres
  • Ensure all processes and tooling meet required specifications for quality, safety, and efficiency
  • Use lean manufacturing methodologies to increase process capability and reduce costs
  • Maintain and communicate detailed project schedules and progress updates
  • Oversee equipment upgrades from procurement through to commissioning
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis on process and equipment modifications
  • Ensure consistent and accurate technical documentation for all projects
  • Mentor and support junior engineers across the business and global repair operations

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in machining development within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability in CAD/CAM programming and translating 3D models into accurate machine/tool paths
  • Proficient understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
  • Demonstrated experience managing technical projects and conducting machining trials
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communicator with sound documentation skills
  • Collaborative, team-oriented working style
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% as required

Preferred/Desirable Experience:

  • Exposure to manufacturing or component repair in industrial gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, or aerospace engines
