Role: Electrical Design Engineer - HV

Salary: £45,000 - £65,000 (Dependent on Experience) 

Location: Glasgow - Hybrid

Our client is a dynamic engineering company, specialising in high-voltage solutions, renewable energy, and electrical power infrastructure. With a strong pipeline of exciting projects lined up until 2025 and beyond, they are now seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer to be a key player in their expanding business.

The Ideal Candidate:

MDE is looking for a passionate and skilled Design Engineer with a strong commitment to renewable energy. With a background in high-voltage electrical engineering design within the electrical contracting or utility industries, they possess the technical expertise to deliver high-quality designs on time while ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. Their ability to handle multiple projects, prioritise deadlines efficiently, and collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, and project engineers sets them apart.

The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of HV design software such as Amtech & CYMCAP and experience working on UK projects within relevant rules and regulations. Moreover, their strong communication skills, including report writing and technical communication, facilitate productive relationships with clients and stakeholders. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality designs on time, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Work on projects scaling between 11Kv - 132Kv. 
• Handle multiple design projects and prioritise conflicting deadlines efficiently.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, and project engineers to understand their requirements and justify design decisions effectively.
• Provide technical support to project engineers for design-related queries.
• Build strong relationships with clients, attending crucial design and project coordination meetings.
• Have a good relationship and understanding with working with DNO / IDNO companies.

Requirements for Success:

• Relevant experience in high voltage electrical engineering design (11-132Kv) within the electrical contracting or utility industries.
• Possess an HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Strong understanding of relevant HV design software including Amtech & CYMCAP.
• Relevant experience working on UK projects to the relevant rules and regulations.
• Hold a full UK driving license and the right to work in the UK without limitation.
• Willingness to come to the office in Glasgow 3 days a week as a minimum.
• Strong report writing skills and the ability to communicate technical information.
