The Role - Graduate Teaching Assistant

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning within your chosen department. Your responsibilities will include:

Academic Support:

• Providing targeted support to students both in-class and through small group interventions
• Assisting with lesson preparation and potentially leading parts of lessons as you develop
• Supporting students with exam preparation, particularly for GCSE and A-Level qualifications
• Helping to develop students' subject-specific skills, critical thinking, and study techniques

Classroom Management:

• Creating positive and engaging learning environments
• Supporting behaviour management strategies
• Encouraging student participation and building confidence

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applications from graduates seeking their first step into education who demonstrate:

Academic Excellence:

• 2:1 degree or above in a relevant subject area
• Strong subject knowledge appropriate to secondary school level
• Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and accessibly

Experience (Desirable but not Essential):

• Previous work with young people through tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering
• Understanding of the UK education system
• Additional skills such as sports coaching, music, or drama

Subject-Specific Requirements

Mathematics: Engineering, Physics, Economics, or related numerical disciplines welcomed
Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related scientific disciplines
English: English Literature, English Language, Creative Writing, or related humanities subjects
Psychology: Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, or related social sciences
Languages: Native or near-native proficiency in French, Spanish, or German
