Job Title: Head of Construction

Location: Qatar

Assignment Term: 36 Months

Work Schedule: 10 hours per day, 6 days a week (26 working days per month)

Leave Rotation: 12 weeks on / 2 weeks off

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Head of Construction (SIMOPS) to provide front-line safety and technical leadership for a major oil and gas project. This role involves ensuring the safe and efficient execution of construction activities in compliance with project schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in managing construction operations, particularly in complex SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations) environments, and will be responsible for coordinating various stakeholders, including contractors, sub-contractors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide visible safety leadership and ensure compliance with safety procedures, including SIMOPS, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), JSAs (Job Safety Analyses), and PTWs (Permits to Work).
• Lead and manage construction activities, ensuring adherence to schedule, quality standards, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate with internal and external teams, including contractors, SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) managers, commissioning teams, and operations teams.
• Actively visit the site to assess work procedures, providing leadership to contractors and subcontractors.
• Support constructability reviews and construction readiness assessments, identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Drive schedule compliance by ensuring contractors meet project milestones and deliverables.
• Analyze construction progress and productivity, suggesting improvements where necessary.
• Manage change controls and evaluate their impact on project schedule and costs.
• Lead the completions process, ensuring punch closure to mechanical completion and transition to commissioning.

   

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in large oil and gas construction projects, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• A minimum of 8 years of field experience in SIMOPS within the oil and gas industry.
• Experience with EPC contractors and subcontractors in large-scale oil and gas projects.
• Familiarity with construction methods and risks related to LNG and sour gas production facilities.
• Proven ability to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and motivate diverse teams.

   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with operations and brownfield SIMOPS planning and execution.
• Proficiency in construction planning, specifications, and procedures.
• Experience with major EPC contractors, subcontractors, and vendors in the LNG industry.
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills.

This position requires a highly motivated individual with extensive technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage complex construction activities safely and efficiently in a multi-disciplinary environment.
