Job Title: Production Supervisor

Salary: £36,000 - £42,000 (Shift Allowence)

Location: Shropshire

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Hours of Work:

  • Week 1: Sunday 11:00pm to 6:00am, Monday to Thursday 10:00pm to 6:00am
  • Week 2: Monday to Thursday 2:00pm to 10:00pm, Friday 1:00pm to 8:00pm
  • Week 3: Monday to Thursday 6:00am to 2:00pm, Friday 6:00am to 1:00pm

MDE Group are happy to be working with a well established international manufacturing company. Quality and innovation are central to operations, including the use of a Cleanroom environment and in-house machinery with advanced technology, such as 6-axis robots.

 

Position Summary:

The Finishing Shop is the final production area, encompassing multiple packaging processes for retail solutions, Easymail, textiles packing, and CISS packing. These critical processes involve inspecting, packaging, and processing various consumable products into finished goods for global distribution. The role requires overseeing automated, semi-automated, and manual processes to deliver high-quality products efficiently, safely, and on time.

In this fast-paced environment, the Production Supervisor plays a crucial role in the manufacturing department, requiring a strong understanding of complex operations. The Supervisor must utilize leadership and management skills to ensure operational efficiency, resource control, and a positive shop floor culture.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with departmental management and company-wide teams to achieve business objectives and KPIs.
  • Drive the department's daily operations and motivate team members to meet high standards.
  • Organize workflows, manage resources, and monitor team performance to ensure a safe and efficient production process.
  • Take full ownership of the department, emphasizing safety, quality, and cost.
  • Implement strategies for continuous process improvement and new control development.
  • Lead the team to consistently meet business metrics and customer demand, ensuring area safety.
  • Use organizational skills and lean manufacturing techniques to schedule production plans effectively.
  • Implement objectives and strategies to enhance departmental performance.
  • Coach, mentor, and lead team members to achieve objectives, fostering a positive team culture.
  • Develop and enforce procedures, ensuring team compliance through training and performance management.
  • Manage a team of leaders, operators, and quality inspectors within the manufacturing department.
  • Provide support, guidance, and development to the business production area.

Skills / Attributes Required:

  • Supervisory and man-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.
  • Coaching skills to develop team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • SAP ERP knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: ILM Level 3 or above in supervisory management, IoSH - Managing Safely
  • Desirable: NEBOSH Certificate, Lean Six Sigma - Green / Black Belt, Project Management

Experience Required:

  • Essential: Previous management experience in a fast-moving production department, excellent communication skills, staff performance management, delivery of production targets, procedure writing and review, SSOW & risk assessments.
  • Desirable: Budget control and analysis, new process introduction, project management.
