Senior Electronics Engineer | Earl Shilton, Leicestershire (On-Site) | Full Time, Permanent | 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (flexible start and finish times available)| £50,000 – £60,000 per annum

Our client supplies specialist test equipment used in the fire detection and alarm and related industries. They are seeking a talented graduate or post-graduate engineer to join their dynamic technical team.

This role represents a crucial technical leadership position within the company. While there will be an initial period of learning about the company’s products, the successful candidate will be expected to take key technical decisions and lead product development and innovation.

You will engage in a diverse range of technical tasks, primarily focusing on electronics engineering. Depending on your background, your work may involve a blend of electronics design, control algorithms, sensor development, software development, and some mechanical design.

You will be primarily focused on development projects, with responsibilities encompassing technical support and documentation, standards conformance, and global client support. Our client values innovation and encourages an inventive approach to projects, which need to consider technical performance, sales implications, and conformance requirements.

Are you the right person for the job?

  • A graduate or post-graduate degree in engineering or science, preferably electronics engineering 
  • Practical experience gained in a technology or manufacturing company, at university, and through personal projects.
  • Creativity and the ability to develop new techniques, design ideas, and innovative solutions
  • A holistic approach to projects, with the ability to understand and consider broader implications.
  • Experience in software development
  • Proficiency in technical drawing and CAD
  • A collaborative attitude and flexibility in handling various tasks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a small team, including external contractors and collaborators

What will your role look like?

  • Design electronics for current and new company products
  • Other technical development and design activities, including managing specialist subcontractors
  • Contribute to technical, production, and test documentation
  • Participate in conformance activities and Quality Assurance
  • Provide technical support to the commercial department
  • Investigate new development methods and tools
  • Support the Production department
  • Occasional work at our client's sites (potentially worldwide), resolving any issues efficiently
