Purpose of the Role

The Lead Instrumentation & Control Engineer is the technical authority for instrumentation and control systems across assigned projects. The role leads design, engineering coordination, and discipline team management to ensure delivery of safe, compliant, and efficient solutions across all project phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the technical quality, compliance, and timely delivery of all I&C engineering documentation and designs.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables in alignment with contractual requirements, industry codes, and internal standards.
• Lead discipline teams, oversee workload allocation, and ensure optimal staff performance across all phases (Pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Design, Commissioning).
• Develop and maintain discipline-specific schedules, manpower forecasts, budgets, and resource plans.
• Track work progress, productivity, and budget performance, initiating corrective actions as needed.
• Coordinate procurement efforts through development of technical specifications, vendor evaluations, and material recommendations.
• Lead design studies for critical instrumentation systems and interface closely with project teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
• Participate in cost estimation processes and provide technical input during bid evaluations and proposal reviews.
• Support Engineering Assurance Audits, technical documentation development, and readiness reviews in accordance with project plans.
• Reinforce quality, HSE, and performance expectations within the discipline team.
• Monitor engineering team effectiveness, provide coaching, and ensure timely release or reassignment of resources based on project progress.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary leads (mechanical, process, electrical, HSE, quality, construction, etc.) to ensure seamless technical execution.

   

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Systems Engineering (Master's degree preferred).

Experience & Background

• Minimum 8 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Experience with Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design is essential.
• Prior experience on projects within the GCC region is a plus.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control systems across oil & gas projects
• Proficiency with tools such as SPI (INtools), AutoCAD, and PLC programming standards
• Familiarity with FAT, SAT, SIL analysis, and full instrument lifecycle management
• Sound understanding of construction and commissioning requirements for I&C systems
• Working knowledge of international I&C codes and standards
• ERP experience, preferably SAP functional modules, is preferred
