Mechanical Technician – Power Station

Circa £48,500 + bonus + OT + benefits

MC Technical Recruitment are currently seeking a Mechanical Technician to join the maintenance department of a brand-new energy from waste power station in the Berkshire area near Maidenhead. This plant will process around 480,000 tonnes of waste per year generating 49MW of electricity for the grid.  

 The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the planning and execution of mechanical maintenance work across the site to ensure minimum downtime.

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for:

• Fault finding, repair work and planned & reactive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical plant equipment including pumps, valves, gearboxes, conveyor systems etc.
• Assisting with outage planning and coordination
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the CMMS
• Providing technical support to the operations team when required
• Working alongside other Technicians and Engineers with regards to plant projects and upgrades
• Managing contractors when required
• Covering the Mechanical Engineers role during periods of absence

To be considered for this role you should have:

• A relevant engineering qualification at HNC/ONC/NVQ level 3 in mechanical engineering or similar
• At least 2 years of post-apprenticeship experience working in a hands-on maintenance or servicing roles across a heavy process plants e.g. power station, EFW, biomass, chemical plant, refinery, paper mill etc. Marine Engineers from the Royal or Merchant Navy are also encourage to apply
• Experience carrying out maintenance and repair work on pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors and other rotating machinery.
• Ideally experience managing and directing contractors
• Experience using a CMMS (computerise maintenance management system)
