Solar PV Technical Manager

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000

Location: Newcastle – 5 days in office

Overview:

MDE Group is currently working for a professional solar and battery storage installer based in the Northeast of England. This company focuses directly on the engineering, procurement, and construction of commercial rooftop and ground-mount solar.

Recently they have gone through a period of growth and because of this, they are now looking for an experienced solar PV Technical Manager to lead the design projects.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure accurate technical design on all projects, promptly delivering them to stakeholders.
• Address and resolve technical design constraints, particularly in Commercial/Industrial Solar PV systems.
• Manage and produce designs for commercial and Ground mount PV systems using AutoCAD and PVSol.
• Proactively manage companywide technical issues and collaborate across departments.
• Lead the design pipeline, ensuring proactive pursuit of all designs for efficient completion.
• Collaborate with product manufacturers and suppliers to source optimal technical solutions.
• Conduct initial system design checks and energy yield estimations.
• Provide proactive responses to technical and sales inquiries.
• Support the installation pipeline to ensure timely completion of electrical drawings.
• Design and plan safe, efficient, and cost-effective electrical (Solar PV) systems.
• Contribute to technical aspects of bidding and tendering for contracts.
• Ensure designs comply with MCS and IET guidance and codes of practice.

Skills and Knowledge:

• NVQ Level 3, AM2, and 18th edition electrical qualifications (or equivalent).
• Leadership and managerial skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of MCS regulations and IET codes of practice.
• Extensive knowledge of DNO G99, G98 applications.
• Understanding of grid connections design (preferred).
• Clean UK driving license.
