Graduate SEN Classroom Assistant - Candidate Specification

We are searching for a Graduate SEN Classroom Assistant who:

• Has graduated with a 2:1 or higher from a Top-30 university, ideally in Psychology, Education, or a related field
• Has at least one year of hands-on experience working with children with special educational needs (in school, therapy, tutoring or voluntary settings)
• Is a natural communicator gentle, patient, and emotionally intelligent
• Shows initiative and flexibility in fast-paced, evolving classroom settings
• Sees a long-term future in the education or mental health sectors (teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, etc.)
• Brings an open mind, a warm heart, and a good sense of humour to every school day

Graduate SEN Classroom Assistant – Role Responsibilities

As a Graduate SEN Classroom Assistant, you’ll:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties and SEMH
• Assist the class teacher in adapting learning activities to meet individual needs, using your creativity and empathy to help each child thrive
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and act as a consistent, positive presence throughout their day
• Support with daily routines, emotional regulation, communication tools, and sensory strategies
• Help track pupil progress and communicate observations to the SENCO and teaching team
