This role is £50 P/Hr (UMB) or £39.58 P/Hr (PAYE)

Job Summary:

A specialist Private Sector Housing EHO is needed to form part of Waltham Forest's new Damp and Mould Task Force. Working alongside building surveyors, you will help provide a swift and effective response to reports of damp and mould in Council owned and managed homes.

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

  • Investigate compliance / legal issues within area of responsibility.   Including where required more complex / serious issues within specific area of specialisation.
  • Preparation of notices, orders, reports, recordings, specifications and drawings, works and estimates in standard formats as required.
  • Provide advice and information to customers and stakeholders. Where appropriate challenge existing practices.

Essential Experience Required:

  • In depth knowledge of HHSRS - as it relates to damp and mould - is essential for the role, as is the ability to work closely with colleagues and contractors to identify and implement the best solutions to keep our tenants safe. 
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team in a local authority environment
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and new techniques that enables continuous improvement, including SAP ratings, Housing Health, and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), Building Regulations and Health & Safety legislation.

Essential Qualifications Required:

  • A qualified Environmental Health Officer who holds a Certificate of Registration of the Environmental Health Officers’ Registration Board or holds a qualification acceptable to the Board, that is, Diploma in Environmental Health awarded by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) or a historical equivalent
