Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant: Person Specification

• Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant – Ideal candidates will have achieved a 2:1 or higher in a Humanities or MFL-related degree (e.g. History, English, Geography, RE, French, Spanish, Classics, Sociology, Philosophy or related disciplines)

• Previous experience working with young people or in a school setting is desirable but not essential

• A genuine passion for your subject and a desire to share that enthusiasm with others

• Empathy, patience, and a supportive approach—particularly in working with students who have additional learning needs

• An interest in progressing toward a career in teaching, SEN support, or wider education

Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant: Role Specification

As a Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support the delivery of Humanities and MFL lessons across KS3 and KS4, including subjects such as History, RE, Geography, French, and Spanish

• Deliver small group and 1-1 interventions to students needing additional support, especially those with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

• Reinforce learning objectives and help students engage with challenging concepts in accessible, creative ways

• Build strong, trusting relationships with students, boosting their academic confidence and emotional resilience

• Share your enthusiasm for your subject through discussions, mentoring, and co-curricular activities such as clubs and enrichment

• Take part in weekly training and professional development to build classroom confidence and develop inclusive teaching strategies

This Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant role is full-time. You will follow the school week, working Monday–Friday, 8:30am to 4:00pm during term-time.
