Job Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and reliable Maintenance Operative to oversee the upkeep and cleanliness of our facilities, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. This role involves a variety of tasks, including grounds maintenance, forklift operations, and internal workshop cleaning. Additional duties may arise as needed, making this a dynamic and hands-on position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grounds Maintenance: Responsible for general upkeep of external areas, including grass cutting, weed control, and litter picking to maintain a tidy and presentable environment.

  • Forklift Operations: Operate a forklift to assist with goods-in procedures, loading scrap metal, and safely transporting chemicals to relevant departments, reducing manual handling risks for staff.

  • Workshop Cleaning & Waste Management: Ensure a clean and orderly workspace by removing waste, washing floors, dusting surfaces, and disposing of waste from the wheels team.

  • General Maintenance: Undertake any additional maintenance tasks as required to support the smooth operation of the facility.

Essential Requirements:

  • Valid Forklift Licence – must be certified to operate a forklift safely.

  • Ability to work independently and manage daily tasks efficiently.

  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Awareness of health and safety regulations and ability to follow best practices.

  • Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual labour tasks.

Desirable Skills & Attributes:

  • Previous experience in a maintenance or facilities role.

  • Basic knowledge of handling and storing chemicals safely.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

  • Willingness to take on additional duties as needed.
