Job Description:

Do you enjoy working with children and are looking for a flexible role? We are seeking a Meal Time Assistant to join our team on a supply basis in Barnstaple, supporting local primary schools during lunchtime. This ad-hoc position is ideal for someone who is available to work as needed, ensuring a positive and safe dining experience for students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise children during lunch breaks, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Assist students with opening food containers, cutting food, and any other lunchtime needs.
• Encourage positive behavior and table manners during meal times.
• Manage the dining area, including cleaning tables and ensuring a tidy environment.
• Support students with any issues that arise during lunch, such as spills or disputes.
• Work closely with school staff to ensure smooth and efficient lunch periods.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children is an advantage but not essential.
• Friendly, patient, and approachable demeanor.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with young children.
• Flexibility to work on an ad-hoc basis, sometimes with little notice.
• Ability to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
