The Role – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Full-time, long-term role starting immediately
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs
  • Help pupils manage emotions, regulate behaviour, and engage positively with learning
  • Assist teachers and behaviour mentors in delivering tailored support and intervention plans
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and self-confidence through encouragement and structure
  • Work closely with SENCOs and therapists to ensure pupils’ individual needs are fully supported
  • Play an active role in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment

Person Specification

  • Degree in Psychology, Education, Criminology, or a related field (essential)
  • Previous experience working with young people with challenging behaviour, SEN, or SEMH (desirable but not essential)
  • Calm, empathetic, and confident when faced with challenging situations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners and helping them achieve their potential
