A forward-thinking specialist SEN school in Hackney is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team from September 2025. The school has an Outstanding reputation for providing tailored education and therapeutic interventions for pupils with autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs), and additional learning difficulties.

The Role – Behaviour Support Assistant:

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with challenging behaviours.
• Implement behaviour support plans in collaboration with teachers and therapists.
• Help pupils regulate emotions, manage triggers, and build coping strategies.
• Create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where students feel respected and supported.
• Assist with classroom activities, transitions, and structured play.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to monitor progress and celebrate success.

Ideal Candidate – Behaviour Support Assistant:

• A graduate (Psychology, Education, or related fields advantageous) OR experienced in behaviour/youth support.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Previous experience with SEN, SEMH, or youth mentoring is desirable but not essential.
• Must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
